Stefan Davis started his motorsport career taking part in a local single venue rally in the year 2000. At the same time he started Autotesting in a small van used for plumbing during the day and motorsport hunting in the night. Autotesting is a fantastic way to have fun whilst developing technical skill and ability. Most of the top drivers start with Autotesting as it's a great way to learn, and it's cheap!
Stefan continued to enter sporadic events of the Southern Rally 2000 and 2001 championship, but with only a budget £1000 Citroen AX GT 1360cc suffered from reliability problems. It became obvious that in order to enjoy the sport, more miles and consistency were the key. A confident step was made from the opportunity to contest in a budget one make level grounded championship in the New 205 Challenge. The investment was made and Stefan bought a Peugeot 205 GTi road car to build into a 205 Challenge specification rally car. The three months project was unleashed in the 205 Challenge 2002 but an engine blow out and the financial consequences forced Stefan to take a back seat for 2002.
2003 was Stefan’s first full season competing in the 205 Challenge against 60 other equally armed competitors. The 205 Challenge is the biggest one make championship in the world and all 60 competitors are bound by rules to drive equal cars. Stefan achieved some impressive results in 2003 finishing 4th, 3rd, 2nd and so nearly 1st in class (4th after final stage) spin on his last 4 events of 2003.
Stefan continued his development by stepping up to the Peugeot 205 Scholarship in 2004. Stefan contested all 7 rounds unfortunately only finishing a total of 4 rounds due to mechanical failures on event.
Stefan contested the Peugeot 205 Scholarship again in 2005. Stefan turned around his reliability issues by building a brand new car to contest in and indeed finishing all but one round of the championship, the most reliable team in the championship!
Stefan will be contested The 205 Scholarship again in 2006 but with the luxury of a drive in a professional run car. Stefan finish joint top of the table on 390 points and set 22 fastest stage times to winner Chris Reids 24.
In 2007 Stefan made his debut in the British Rally Championship and led his Super 1600 Class in an out dated machine all the way up until the final stage of the last rally, when bad luck and contraversial marshalling saw him lose his title.
